Four held for alleged drug abuse

BAU: Narcotics police picked up four jobless men for alleged drug abuse and seized RM200 worth of drugs at Jalan Taiton here on Monday (Jan 10).

District police chief DSP Poge Nyaon said the men aged between 26 and 48 years were arrested in front of a workshop around 10.10 am.

“During inspection, three of them handed over to us two plastic packets and a straw tube containing crystalline lumps believed to be methamphetamine.

“The drugs weighing 1.97g and valued around RM200, were seized as evidence,” he said, adding that all four admitted to be involved in drug abuse.

The suspects were brought back to the narcotics office where they all tested positive for drugs.

Three of the suspects had past records.

Poge said the three will be investigated under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for possessing drugs and the fourth suspect will be investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the same Act.
