Four injured in truck-lorry crash

MUKAH: A scavenger truck driver sustained serious head injury after his vehicle was involved in an accident with a lorry at KM1Jalan Mukah-Balingian here on Monday (June 22).

The victim was identified only as Tusiman, 32, an Indonesian national, who was found unconscious at the accident scene.

Lorry driver Mohamad Syukri Sirat, 29, from Kampung Penat, Oya here suffered  a broken right thigh but was conscious.

The truck passengers who were both male Indonesians namely Dede Muliana sustained head injury and was conscious, while Egi has no obvious injury but was unconscious.

Mukah District police chief DSP Jimmy Panyau said initial investigation revealed that both vehicles were from Mateding heading towards Mukah when the mishap occurred at 5.30pm.

“Upon arriving at the location of the accident, a black car suddenly came out from a junction. In its effort to avoid hitting the car, the truck driver lost control of his vehicle resulting in the truck to block the entire width of the road,” he said via WhatsApp late Monday (June 22).

He added a lorry following close from behind was not in time to brake and rammed the front side of the truck, causing it to skid to right side of the road and headed into the drain.

All the victims were sent to the hospital for further action.

Jimmy said the case was being investigated under Section 43 (1) Road Transport Act 1987.
