KUCHING: A total of seven students of Swinburne University of Technoloy (SUT) were awarded with full scholarships for Master by Research for projects alligned with Malaysia Automative Institute (MAI) during a ceremony held at SUT here, yesterday.

The seven students were Robin Xavier Mowe, Jackson Wong Joon Shee, Abdul Qaiyum Aidil, Mohamad Izuan, Naresh Jeyapalan, Chai Poh Chun and Michelle Kuek Shu Wun.

Combining the need of the industry, the capability of the academia and the role of the government in a tri-party composition, an Automotive Research Programme is now launched by MAI and SUT.

This programme carefully selects specific projects needed by the industry and match with the right student for the research to be undertaken.

The students are awarded stipend and waived tuition fees for a maximum of two years.

The students will be attached to the industry for the duration of the research to focus on issues and solutions.  This is a win-win programme and it is hoped that the students, the university, the industry, the government, and ultimately the country Malaysia will benefit from it.
