Give vaccine as soon as possible

SIBU: Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah hopes Covid-19 vaccine could be made available to the people in the state the soonest possible.

He said the Covid-19 pandemic had disrupted the development of myriad of existing businesses hence seriously affected the people’s livelihood.

“The Covid-19 pandemic is affecting the lives of everyone and most if not of the industries and businesses. Lately, we hear that a vaccine has been found and being actively produced … we are therefore hopeful that it would arrive on our shores soon. 

“I sincerely hope that with the availability of the vaccine, our state and country would be free of the virus and everything will go back to normal. I hope the vaccine could be made available at least in the next few months,” he said when officiating at the “Saturday Night Fever the Musical” by the State Orchestra Symphony. The programme was also to coincide with an appreciation dinner for Covid-19 frontliners Sibu division held at a hotel here on Thursday night.

He was also hopeful that the “Saturday Night Fever the Musical” programme could also be held in other divisions as a show of appreciation to Covid-19 frontliners in the respective divisions.

He said the programme could, in one way or another gives awareness to the people, notably the frontliners that it was now almost a year of combating the Covid-19 pandemic.

Prior to performing in Sibu, the State Symphony Orchestra had also performed for Covid-19 frontliners in Kuching division.
