KUALA LUMPUR: Sensational Selangor FC winger Mohamad Faisal Abdul Halim is not panicking despite still failing to score his first goal with the Red Giants after three Super League games this season.

Mohamad Faisal said the matter was not affecting his focus on helping Selangor hunt for victories even though every goal is motivation and able to give him satisfaction.

“Of course I want to score goals, I have the spirit and strength, if I score a goal it’s a satisfaction for me. But if you look back at last year (with Terengganu), I didn’t score in the first three games but it will come.

“I believe in luck, we have a very long season until December. For me, goals are important, but the important thing now is to help Selangor win every game, that’s the main thing,” he said after Selangor FC’s match against Sri Pahang FC, yesterday.

In the clash at the Petaling Jaya City Council Stadium, Selangor came from behind to tie Sri Pahang 1-1 through captain Brendan Gan’s header in the 88th minute to equalise after Stefano Brundo put The Elephants in front in the 74th minute.

Commenting further, Mohamad Faisal, who is more fondly called Mickey, said he was still looking for his real rhythm after joining the squad coached by Tan Cheng Hoe in December last year.

The 25-year-old scored a total of 11 goals in the Malaysia League last season, six in the Super League, FA Cup (three) and Malaysia Cup (two).

He also has a good record on the international stage after scoring a total of nine goals in all matches with the national team last year.

Selangor, who are unbeaten after two wins and the draw last night at the beginning of the season, will travel to Penang to meet Penang FC at the City Stadium, Georgetown this Sunday. – BERNAMA
