KUALA LUMPUR: The country’s professional golfer Ervin Chang will not be competing in the Asian Games in Hangzhou, which will be held from Sept 23 to Oct 8.

The 25-year-old said that he is now focused on making an appearance at the Asian Development Tour (ADT) Championship that will take place in Bogor, Indonesia, from Sept 27 to 29.

He said that the dates of the Asian Games and ADT clashed, forcing him to choose one of the meets to participate in.

“I was supposed to participate in the Asian Games, but the dates clashed with my tournament schedule this year, so I withdrew from the Games.

“I won’t be able to represent the country for the Asian Games this time because my number one goal this year is to make it on to the Asian Tour,” he said when met by Bernama at MST Golf Arena here today.

In the meantime, Ervin also intends to hunt for the top ranking in the ADT, in addition to being determined to hold the three tour titles involved. He also aims to win two titles in the Toyota Tour this year.

In May, Ervin created a sensation when he held the title of the Toyota Tour at the Mirai Cup held in Sarawak after edging out his teammate Shahriffudin Ariffin, who finished second in the tournament. – BERNAMA
