MUKAH: The health screening programme held at SMK St Patrick here yesterday morning received encouraging response from the school’s staffs and parents.
The event which started at 8am until 5pm was organised by the school in collaboration with the National Population Board and Family Development (LPPKN).
Held at the school’s Resource Centre, the activity was conducted by two LPPKN staff members from Sibu.
The programme involved the checking of blood pressure, cholesterol level and sugar content with a RM10 charge per person while for pap smear examination was conducted free of charge. Meanwhile, 123 Form One students attended a talk `Sayangi Diri’ included in the programme.
It was held at the school’s multipurpose room. The talk conducted by Nurul Masyitah Abdul Latip from LPPKN Kuching, touched on early development of adolescent including reproduction health.
It is learnt that the objective of the programme, among others, were to create awareness to the students on the importance of looking after their health and adopting healthy lifestyles.
