KUCHING: As a coalition formed by four local parties in Sarawak, Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) remains an independent political entity that is not officially bound to any political alliance or coalition in Malaya.

Having said this, GPS chairman, Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, said this gives GPS an advantage to determine its own future for Sarawakian.

“With that, our policies do not need to be referred to Kuala Lumpur (KL). We are on our own now,” he said.

He said this in his speech during the launching of the GPS GE15 Manifesto at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) here on Today evening (Nov 6).

On another note, he said this will be the first time that GPS is contesting in the 15th general election (GE15) on its own without affiliating with other political parties.

“GPS will continue to fight for Sarawak’s rights. And we have placed our GPS candidates in all the 31 parliamentary seats.

“That is why, this coming Nov 19, I call on the rakyat (people) to render their fullest support to us because only GPS can determine the future of Sarawak,” said Abang Johari.
