KUCHING: Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS) hosted about 80 media practitioners from various organisation at a breaking-of-fast gathering here.

The event was held at Pullman Hotel on Tuesday (Apr 22) evening in conjunction with the month of Ramadan.

In his speech before the event PETRONAS Media Communications head Azman Ibrahim said that PETRONAS is glad to be able to host such an event again with the media physically.

He said often the company would organise the break-of-fast ceremony with the media, but it was put on hold for two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic and in compliance to the standard operating procedures (SOPs).

“I want to thank all the media from Sarawak for the continuous support you rendered to us as we navigated through the difficult times, and as we continue to forge ahead with what we have set out to do going into the future,” he said.

He hoped such support continues and that both PETRONAS and the media from Sarawak continue to work together and strengthen ties among each other in the future.

“The past two years brought about challenges and trials for all of us. The pandemic affected us in so many ways, at so many different levels.

“But our perseverance through it all is really remarkable as we continue to demonstrate courage, and care and concern and support for one another,” said Azman.

Meanwhile, also present were PETRONAS Sarawak chief operating officer Norazibah Rabu, PETRONAS Sarawak general manager Zulaihi Mantali, PETRONAS Sarawak Media Communications manager Johannes Ridu as well as PETRONAS staff from Kuching, Miri, Bintulu.
