KUCHING: The state Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) received two fire engines from Guro City in Seoul yesterday.

The arrival of the fire engines at the Fire and Rescue Department Headquarters at Tabuan Jaya was also attended by the Minister of Local Government and Housing, Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian and Mayor of Kuching South City Council (MBKS), Dato James Chan Khay Syn.

“This is a result of the good friendship between MBKS and Guro City, Seoul with numerous exchange programmes made before this.

“These fire engines will definitely enhance our Fire and Rescue Volunteers in the future as well as an additional asset to our State Fire and Rescue Department.

“The first of it’s kind in Malaysia was part of the exchange programme between the two cities instead of education, fireman exchange programme and others which was held last year.

“We are very happy with all this exchange, at least we got something and not just doing nothing like what the opposition said,” revealed Sim.
