HAUS KCH, a local creative community hub, is set to host a 2-day music showcase entitled “Timbre Sessions 4” at 8pm on Saturday 5th August 2017, and 8pm on Sunday 6th August 2017. The event will be hosted by HAUS KCH’s music collective, Timbre. Timbre Sessions is a new platform for local talent exposure, and aims to assist the growth of the local music industry.
Timbre, a collective of youngsters from varying backgrounds, is spearheaded by sound engineers Oliver Josiah Tiong and Farouk Kamil, zoologist Serene Davies, and Syed Ashraf Al Edruce who leads two well-received local bands: Meruked and South China Sea. Timbre have set up within HAUS KCH a communal music space that would ideally accommodate young and old players of the local music scene alike.
“In addition to acquainting Kuching with Timbre’s intention of kickstarting the local music scene here–as there are so many underrated artists that deserve a little recognition–we want to launch the newly renovated performance and rehearsal space that will be able to accommodate 80 people comfortably.” says Ashraf, the 24 year-old Lim Kok Wing architecture graduate, who maintains that Timbre Sessions is aimed at championing underexposed talent in the local music scene.
The night will feature 7 acoustic homegrown acts that will be showcasing a broad spectrum of modern day genres including pop, indie, folk, hip hop and acapella. The event will be hosted within HAUS KCH’s top floor with an entry fee of RM20.
The ticket entitles you to allnight access to the event, a set of cheesy wedges from Sanjuro Cafe, and a canned drink.
