AREA VISITS CONTINUE

MIRI: Heavy rains that flooded low-lying areas within the Telang Usan constituency for the past several days failed to dampen the spirit of its elected representative, Dennis Ngau, from visiting constituents.

“Business as usual despite the wet season and flood,” he said.

Dennis also reminded people in Baram areas to be always alert.

“Be alert and watch for possible floods in your area and other natural disasters.”

Dennis recalled that while on his way back with his team to Long Lama from Long Kevuk, Sungai Layun last Wednesday night, they were caught in heavy rain and thunderstorm at about midnight.

“Though I have made countless of these kinds of travelling in my constituency, the nature and amount of  rain that fell last night was very unusual and did scare  me.

“We almost could not see the road due to the rain and the fear of landslides and trees being uprooted really hit me.”

Dennis advised those travelling in the interior areas to be extra careful, citing what happened in two areas along logging roads recently and a landslide happened in the Temala/Apoh region.

He said in other areas in Ulu Baram, heavy rain was still falling and floods at longhouses such Long Bemang and others villages had not receded.

He urged the ketua kaum or village committees to report to the district office of any happening to keep state leaders informed.
