Homeless fire victims receive aid

Talib with a recipient who was also a fire victim in Kampung Sebiew.

BINTULU: Twenty families in Kampung Sebiew here, who lost their houses in a fire on July 2, continue to receive assistance from various parties.

The unfortunate incident also caught the attention of the Bintulu Islamic Welfare Trust Board (LAKIB), Bintulu Assyakirin Mosque Management Committee and At-Taqwa RPR Sebiew Mosque which came forward to donate to the victims to ease their burden.

Each family received RM1,000 in cash from LAKIB and Bintulu Assyakirin Mosque Management Committee, while the At-Taqwa RPR Sebiew Mosque Management Committee contributed RM500 for each family.

The brief ceremony to hand over the donation was officiated by Jepak assemblyman and LAKIB chairman, Datuk Talib Zulpilip.

In his brief speech, Talib said he had discussed with the Bintulu Development Authority to find the best approach in helping the victims involved.

At the same time, he hoped that such assistance could help families affected by the disaster.

In the incident at 4am on July 2, eleven houses involving 20 families in Kampung Sebiew here, were destroyed in a fire.

However, no injuries or fatalities were reported.
