SIBU: The Sibu Hospital has received donations comprising 185 items of medical equipment and facilities worth RM486,000 here yesterday.

Among the medical equipment donated were an electrocardio scanner (Holter machine scanner), Keratometer/Refractometer, Gastroscope, and Transport incubator.

Facilities donated also included air-conditioner, 10-inch exhaust fan, ceiling fan, queue management system, time-stamping machine, 5-seater link chair, inline duct fan, and working chairs.

The donations were from Rotary Club Of Bintulu Central (RCBC) sponsored by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (LDS) in Hong Kong.

According to president Allen Wong Ching Seng, the donation project is in line with the club’s mission to provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders.

“The purpose of acquiring the new medical equipment is to achieve more efficient medical screening, treatment, and surgery for the patients.

“As for upgrading the facilities, they provide a safer and more comfortable environment for patients and hospital staff,” he said in his speech at the handover ceremony at Sibu Hospital today.

“We hope in the future we can continue to provide help where it is needed,” he said.

Meanwhile, Sibu Hospital director Dr. Nanthakumar Thirunavukkarasu expressed his gratitude to both LDS and RCBC for their kind donation.

“Receiving a fund of RM486,000 is no joke. It is a huge amount. This is mainly for outpatient comfort and also for staff welfare. This will promote and encourage my team to work and serve better,” he said.
