SIMUNJAN: A double-storey house at at Kampung Kancong in Simunjan was razed to the ground on Wednesday.
According to State Fire and Rescue Department, a distress call about the incident was received by Malaysian Emergency Response Service (MERS) 999 at 6.16pm.
Following the call, a team of firefighters from Simunjan fire station was immediately despatched to the scene.
“Upon arrival, the fire operations commander found that the two-storey house was already100 percent destroyed. Two abandoned cars parked next to the house were also damaged.
“According to witnesses, the house belongs to a younger brother of Simunjan assemblyman Awla Dris – and was inhabited by two family members only,” the statement said.
There were no reports of casualties and the cause of the fire and loss to properties are still under investigation.
