JULAU: A maintenance supervisor died from injuries after his car skidded and crashed into a ditch along Jalan Nanga Entabai on Saturday (Apr 29).
Julau OCPD DSP Andam Sulin Brayun in a statement, said the victim was identified as 30-year-old Samputra Peran from Sibuti.
Prior to the 12.30 am crash, the victim and his 21-year-old wife were heading to their longhouse at Nanga Ayam from Julau town.
“It is believed that Samputra had lost control of the car before it plunged into a ditch on the opposite lane.
“As a result, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics and his body was taken to Sarikei Hospital for post-mortem.
“Meanwhile, his wife sustained injuries to her arms and chest. She was later taken to Sibu Hospital for immediate treatment,” he said.
Andam said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
