KUCHING: In collaboration with Yayasan Sarawak, students from i-CATS University College recently embarked on a transformative programme titled Oh My English Kpg Sungai Lumut.

The programme, located in Kpg Sungai Lumut entails the students being involved with a range of fun and interactive studies instead of confining their language learning to the classroom and sticking to conventional teaching methods.

“These activities serve a dual purpose, not only do they provide opportunities for students to improve their English skills, but they also create memorable moments for the local residents.

“By speaking English with the locals, they not only practice their language skills but also break down linguistic barriers and create connections with the community,” i-CATS University College said in a press release.

It added that one key feature of the programme is the encouragement of students to engage in conversations with residents, providing them with invaluable opportunities to practice their English language skills in real-world situations.

“This collaborative approach fosters a sense of unity and shared purpose among the students.

“Beyond language proficiency, Oh My English Kampung Sungai Lumut aims to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical skills, all while nurturing a deeper connection with the local community,” it added.

It then stated in conclusion, the English Enhancement Programme led by ICATS University College students stands as a testament to the transformative power of education and community engagement.

“It demonstrates that positive change can occur when students are willing to step outside their comfort zones and connect with their local community.

“It serves as an inspiring example of how education can empower individuals and uplift entire communities, leaving a lasting impact of unity and progress,” it added.
