Illegal Indonesian man gets four months’ jail

KUCHING: An Indonesian man was sentenced to four months’ jail ordered to be given one stroke of the rotan by the Sessions Court here today for entering the country without a valid travel permit.

Accused Mohd Daniel Al Firdho, 26, from Indonesia pleaded guilty to the charge under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63, in accordance with Section 6(3) of the same act that was read before Judge Mohd Taufik Mohd @Mohd Yusof.

According to the charges, he was arrested at a cafe in Jalan Satok at 4.45 pm, on April 30 during a police raid.

Mohd Taufik ordered the accused to be handed over to the Malaysian Immigration Department (MID) after he has served his prison sentence.

The accused had entered Malaysia and was in Sarawak without a valid permit.

In addition, based on the MID report, there was no record of the accused entering and leaving the country.
