ILP Miri receives 133 donated books

MIRI: A total of 133 donated books through the ‘Bookshare’ Initiative were handed over to Industrial Training Institute (ILP) Miri recently.

The initiative is collaboration between Pustaka Negeri Sarawak Miri branch, the Library of Curtin University Malaysia and Librarians Association Malaysia Sarawak Chapter (PPMKSAR).

Bookshare is an initiative whereby the community assists in donating used and latest reading materials.

All donated books were handed over to the institute’s Deputy Director of Operations Vivian Dana Kunsu by Curtin Malaysia’s Dean of Learning and Teaching Professor Tang Fu Ee and witnessed by Pustaka Miri’s Librarian Ahmad Samsudin and Curtin Malaysia’s Senior Librarian Sorina Ramli who represented PPMKSAR.

The handing over ceremony was held during Pustaka Miri’s Customers Day which took place at Curtin Malaysia campus in Senadin.

During the Pustaka Miri Customers Day, various activities were held included Reading Seeds Sharing Session, PANDei Programme: Community Digital Literacy, MakerSpace Counter, Library Book Renewal, Sarawakiana Book Sale and Information Literacy sessions.

Visitors to the event also had the chance to help build and enhance the library collection by books and reading material suggestions which can be obtained through Pustaka.

A library membership registration counter was set up as well and every new registered member received tokens of appreciation.

A total of 120 students, Curtin staff and members of the public have registered as Pustaka Sarawak Miri branch members.
