KUCHING: The Sarawak Immigration Department launched an operation codenamed ‘Ops Gegar’, resulting in the detention of 15 foreign women at an entertainment centre here on Jan 24.

After weeks of investigation and observation, a total of 31 individuals of various nationalities were scrutinised at the premises from 8.40 pm to 9.10 pm.

The majority of those detained were found to lack valid travel documents, proper work permits, and violated the terms of their passes.

They were placed under detention in accordance with Section 6(1)(c), Section 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63, and Regulation 39(b) of the Immigration Regulations 1963.

The Immigration Department remains steadfast in its commitment to curb the employment of foreigners without proper permits. It urged the public to report any relevant information or file complaints through designated channels.
