MERADONG: Users of Jalan Bintangor-Sarikei can finally breathe a sigh of relief as the shortcut to Sarikei town has been equipped with street lights, thus ensuring the safety of road users especially during night time.

Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) yesterday (Oct 5) reported Meradong assemblyman Datuk Ding Kuong Hii as saying that 162 streetlights had been installed along the road.

“The installation of these street lights will bring a lot of comfort to the people living in this area and also to those who use Jalan Pasi/Meradong,” he said after inspecting the installation of the street lights on Monday (Oct 4).

Ding thanked the Sarawak government, especially the Public Works Department (JKR), for implementing the project.

“Besides that, JKR Sarikei Division also said that streetlights would be installed along the main road from Sungai Bakong to Jalan Kelupu which is close to SJK (C) Ming Tee in Bintangor,” he said.

He added that other localities in the Pakan district would have lampposts.
