KUCHING: Enthusiasts of art and technology converged at HAUS KCH, Pending, for a transformative experience at A Date with Arts, a captivating showcase of digital artworks.

As part of the FACA Fest 2024, programme redefined traditional perceptions of art by leveraging modern projection mapping techniques to breathe life into the digital canvases.

Ling Ke Jia, the communication specialist for the programme, highlighted the distinctive nature of projection mapping, which projects art designs onto surfaces, offering viewers a novel encounter with artistic expression.

“Project mapping is a display or projection technique whereby it displays art designs on to a surface.

“So, this art exhibition is different because it is not like seeing arts on canvas, and this has attracted people and students to experience art in a new way.”

Marking the final edition of FACA Fest, A Date with Arts welcomed collaborations with international artists, including French artist Lohan Le Galloudec, alongside contributions from Zhonk Vision, Arda Baha, Dhiya Roslan, Nazrin Latipi, and Faris Nasir.

The 22-day exhibition, running from Jan 6 to 28, served as a platform for students from the Faculty of Applied and Creative Arts (FACA) at UNIMAS to showcase their management skills in organising such an event.

Ling praised the collaboration with HAUS KCH for providing invaluable practical experience for students, allowing them to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios.

Moreover, the programme extended its reach through collaborative workshops with Dirty Art Studio, offering engaging activities such as neon art pouring, textured arts, flower bouquet crafting, batik paper art, resin workshops, and bead bracelet sessions.

The event culminated in a vibrant finale, featuring a Pop-Up Market boasting over 20 food and craft vendors, complemented by live acoustic sessions from Sara Music, Zack Harith, Jessie, Haisyah, Vishnu, and a DJ set by Mu’izz Dicky and DJ Rusak.
