KUCHING: The Cabinet reshuffle announced by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg is a progressive step, said Tourism, Arts, Culture Minister and Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah (pic).

“The chief minister is fine tuning the ministries and placing cabinet members where they could perform best,” he told New Sarawak Tribune yesterday.

Abdul Karim expressed his delight as his ministry now is accorded two sets of ministerial staff following its split into two separate ministries.

“This would lessen the burden of civil servants who served under the previous ministry.

“Following the split, they would be able to give more focus (on their tasks) and deliver their best,” he added. Abang Johari said the reshuffling was in line with the state government’s policies.

“We aim to give strong economic development to achieve the target of becoming a developed state by 2030 with the new lineup,” he said.
