Jabs for 4,000 students in Sarikei until Oct 1

SARIKEI: As many as 4,000 students aged 12 to 15 from 50 schools in Sarikei division started to receive their Covid-19 vaccine on Saturday (Sept 25).

Assistant Minister of Urban Development and Natural Resources Datuk Len Talif Salleh told Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) today (Sept 25),  the vaccination programme for this age group would be held until Oct 1.

He said the schools consisted of five secondary schools, a private school and 44 primary schools in Sarikei.

“We are also expecting walk-ins for the vaccination from Roban and around the Sarikei aread as well,” he said after visiting the vaccination centre at the Dewan Sentral here today.

Len Talif, who is also the Kuala Rajang assemblyman, said that the vaccine had been administered to 94 percent of those aged 16 and 98 percent of those aged 18.

“The government has set a target of vaccinating at least 95 percent of those aged 12 to 25,” he said.

He urged those aged 16 to 18 who missed out on getting the vaccine to go to the PPV for their vaccination.
