AWARD winning singer Jaclyn Victor, 44, is back with a new single titled “Kembalilah”. The song features her trademark powerful and soulful vocal delivery that fans have come to love in a career spanning two decades. Calling the song a gift to her fans, “Kembalilah”, which translates to “come back”, is a memorable song for Jaclyn as she had to fly to New York to record the emotional ballad.

The singer said that she was excited when US-based Malaysian composers and lyricists Gerald Sellan and Adrian Puan contacted her with a musical proposition.

“I was initially surprised when approached by Gerald and Puan, as they wanted me to sing on a track they had been working on.

“Both of them were in New York, so I flew over there to realise their dream, which was also a dream come true for me,” she says.

The “Gemilang” hitmaker, travelled to the Big Apple by herself to record the track at their studio. She added that she fell head over heels in love with the song during the creative process of putting together the tune and while memorising the lyrics. “To me, each verse has a very deep meaning.

“Kembalilah” features a strong message that touches on spirituality, hope, everlasting love, second chances and rebirth.

“The melody is very moving, which enhances the meaning of the song,” she says. “Imagine how thrilled I was to sing this song since it took over 10 years to finally come out with this track. This is what is called a ‘second chance’,” she said.
