Jamilah confident Gustian can deliver

LUNDU: Tanjung Datu assemblywoman Datuk Amar Jamilah Anu has expressed confidence in the leadership of the new Lundu district officer Gustian Durani.

With his appointment, she believed the district can expect to see many changes and better things to come.

Hecne, she appealed to Lundu District Council councillors and staffers to give their full cooperation to Gustian.

“I sincerely hope the appointment of Gustian as the new district officer would bring Lundu to greater heights of progress,” Jamilah said at the 22nd swearing-in ceremony of councilors of Lundu District Council at Dewan Masyarakat Lundu here, yesterday.

She pointed out that there were still much to be done for Lundu’s development.

“I’m confident with the leadership of Gustian. He will be able to bring many changes to Lundu,” she added.

On another development, Jamilah said the opening of the Telok Melano-Sematan stretch of the Pan Borneo Highway project on Jan 26 would further boost Lundu’s potential as a favourite tourist destination in the state.

She also noted that not long after its opening, Lundu saw a big increase in tourist and visitor arrivals to the district, especially during weekends.

“With the positive development, it is our duty to provide the necessary facilities at Telok Melano for their convenience,” she said.

Jamilah also said aside from the beaches in Siar, Sematan and Telok Melano, Lundu actually has many natural attractions as its tourism products.

“We have four national parks, waterfalls in Sebat and Jangkar, just to name a few. All these are good attractions for Lundu tourism,” she added.

Also present at the function were Opar assemblyman Datuk Ranum Mina and local community leaders.
