JCI secures hosting rights, wins awards

MIRI: JCI Miri demonstrated their strength and charisma at the recently concluded 2023 JCI Malaysia National Convention, where they not only won multiple awards, but also successfully secured the hosting rights for the 2025 Ten Outstanding Young Malaysians (TOYM) Awards.

JCI Miri president Candy Yong Chuen Tien said that the chapter had obtained the hosting rights for the 2025 TOYM Awards, and it would be the first time to hold this prestigious event here.

TOYM is an award that aims to recognise and encourage young people who have made outstanding contributions in various fields. Since 1978, more than 300 distinguished young people have received this honour. It is worth mentioning that Sarawak Transport Minister Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin was also one of the recipients of this honour in 1984.

Yong said that the chapter was honoured to participate in this memorable convention, where they exchanged and learned from JCI members from all over the country on topics such as leadership, social responsibility, innovation and collaboration.

The chapter was also excited to win the hosting rights for the 2025 TOYM Awards, which was a great opportunity and challenge, and the chapter would do its best to create history for Miri and Malaysia.

She pointed out that the 2023 JCI Malaysia National Convention was a three-day event, hosted by JCI MCE in the historic city of Malacca. The convention attracted nearly 1,000 JCI members from across the country to discuss and share on topics related to leadership, social responsibility, innovation and cooperation.

During the convention, JCI Miri sent a large delegation, actively participated in various activities and competitions, and showed their team spirit and talent. They achieved excellent results in the following areas:

Yong was very proud and grateful for JCI Miri’s achievements and said that these awards were a recognition of JCI Miri members’ hard work and dedication, as well as an acknowledgment of JCI Miri’s vision and mission.

JCI Miri is an organisation composed of passionate and leadership-oriented young people who aim to bring positive changes to society through various projects and activities.

She also called on more aspiring young people to join JCI Miri, to make a positive impact on society and realise their potential.
