JKKK gets RM13,000 grant

KUCHING: Taman Boulder Built Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) threw a Pre-Gawai Dinner at Christian Ecumenical Worship Centre near here, last Saturday.

The event was officiated at by Assistant Minister of Native Laws and Customs, Datuk John Sikie Tanyai and also attended by Batu Kitang Assemblyman, Lo Khere Chiang.

John and Lo each pledged RM10,000 and RM3,000, respectively to the JKKK to run their annual activities.

“Congratulations to the JKKK for hold this annual event for the second year which has attracted about 500 people.

“This kind of celebration is good in preserving our culture and tradition for the younger generation,” said John in his speech.

John also reminded the people to drive carefully ob the road during the upcoming Gawai festival.

Among the activities held to enliven the event was Kumang Gawai contest, singing, and traditional dance performances.

Also present were Pemanca John Tambi Awat, Organising Chairman, Spencer Birai and community leader, Datuk Paduka Anthony Nait Maru.
