JPJ issues 986 notices in ‘Op Hari Raya Aidiladha 2023’

The four-day ‘Op Hari Raya Aidiladha 2023’ being carried out in Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu and Limbang.

KUCHING: The Sarawak Road Transport Department (JPJ) has issued a total of 986 non-compliance notices during the statewide operation codenamed ‘Op Hari Raya Aidiladha 2023’.

The department said the operation was conducted by JPJ’s Operations Unit for four days from June 27 to 28 and July 1 to 2.

It was aimed at monitoring, detecting and taking actions against any drivers or vehicle owners, who failed to comply with the rules in accordance with the Road Transport Act 1987 (Act 333), the Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board Act (Act 334), the Land Public Transport Act 2010 (Act 715) and the Rules under it.

A total of 5,668 vehicles were inspected throughout Sarawak and it resulted in the detection of various offences such as overtaking on double lines, driving without a licence, disregarding traffic signals, and technical errors.

Meanwhile, road users have been advised to ensure that their vehicles always comply with all applicable laws and regulations.

The department said enforcement will continue to be carried out to ensure road users comply with existing rules and laws.
