SIBU: The grand finale of the Anugerah Juara Lagu Melanau 2023 (AJLM 2023), organised by the Persatuan Pengkarya Pemuzik Artis Melanau (PAMM) Sibu, is set to take place on Jan 27 at the Islamic Complex Hall here.
Its president Mohamad Anis Ili said the awards aim to acknowledge, celebrate, and honour the creative talents of Melanau music enthusiasts in the state, and across Malaysia.
“AJLM also serves as a dedicated platform for Melanau song composers to showcase their works at a higher level.
“Their talents deserve recognition, and their compositions should be esteemed as high-quality creations eligible for competition in prestigious awards like this,” he said in a press conference held here Saturday (Jan 20).
He said the screening phase of AJLM commenced on Jan 10 in Kuching, featuring approximately 100 songs from composers across Sarawak and that only 12 will be handpicked by professional judges to vie for a final berth.
Anis extended an invitation to the public to attend the upcoming final stage which is expected to be officiated by Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.
“Entry is free, and those in attendance can participate in a lucky draw, besides enjoying light refreshments,” he added.
The AJLM champion will receive a cash award of RM7,000, with the first and second runners-up receiving RM5,000 and RM3,000, respectively.
Also present were PAMM Vice President Tazudin Murni, Secretary Mohamed Tumi, Treasurer Saemah Hamidon and Secretary Norizan Sanyut.
