Junkie fined RM4k or 10 months’ jail

KUCHING: A local guy who pleaded guilty for being involved in the abuse of methamphetamine six years ago was fined RM4,000 or ten months’ jail in default.

After having a charge read in front of him, Zammel Jamani confessed before Magistrate Zaiton Anuar.

After serving his or her prison term, the defendant was sentenced by the court to either submit to two years of police supervision or pay a fine.

Around 8.45 am on November 3, 2016, he was alleged to have committed the act at the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department Kuching premises.

Therefore, Section 15(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act of 1952 may be used to punish the accused for violating Section 15(1)(a) of that law.

If found guilty, the maximum term is two years in prison or a fine of RM5,000.

According to the case’s circumstances, methamphetamine, which is included in the First Schedule of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, was detected in his urine both when he was arrested and during the course of the police investigation.

Inspector Nur Syafiqa Nyaie Ilin led the prosecution of the case but the accused wasn’t represented by a lawyer.
