BETONG: Kampung Buda will enjoy a new Tabika Kemas next year under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) funds, said Saribas assemblyman Mohammad Razi Sitam.

According to him, the existing Tabika Kemas will be replaced and relocated to a safer location because according to the assessment from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), the current building is located in the red zone where it is exposed to river erosion.

“We allocate RM100,000 for the construction of the new kindergarten in Kampung Buda next year.

“I was made to understand that Kemas did not have provisions to build a new building for them so I have instructed its chairman to find an appropriate site,” he told reporters yesterday during his visit to several key projects which were being proposed to be included in next year’s RTP funds.

Besides a new kindergarten, other proposed projects were construction of a hall (which can accommodate futsal court) and a palm sugar processing centre.

“We allocate RM500,000 for the construction of the hall, and RM200,000 for the palm sugar processing centre.

“I will ensure the Saribas constituency will not be left behind in terms of development. For next year, we will do the development in stages according to the plan,” said Razi.

The first phase of the main road construction in Kampung Buda is in progress.

He added that the RTP funds had helped the state a lot in solving basic infrastructure problems especially in rural and remote areas.

“In fact, the allocation also helps to repair the federal government’s premises,” he said, adding that the first phase of the main road construction in Kampung Buda, which cost RM400,000 under the walkabout budget announced last year, is in progress.

Also present were Betong District Officer Sofhi Jebal.
