KUCHING: The Kuching Badminton Association (KBA) is excited about collaborating with the Kuala Lumpur Badminton Association (KLBA) to share ideas and training methods.

KBA president Dr. Ong Kong Swee said that such collaboration is crucial for the development of badminton in various areas.

Dr. Ong, who represented the Minister of Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, said this during a press conference at the closing ceremony of the two-day SISFWO held at Imperial Hotel yesterday (July 2).

Meanwhile KLBA High Performance director Suhaimi Sun Abdullah congratulated KBA for organising the workshop and highlighted its benefits for grassroots and elite players.

He mentioned that the KBA’s approach, together with the support of the Sarawak government, could serve as a model for other states aiming to establish sports development programmes.

Suhaimi said that it’s really important for young players here to learn from the experiences of badminton legends like Tommy Sugiarto, Cheah Liek Hou, and Koay Kar Lin. These legends can guide them as they progress from lower to higher levels of competition.
