BANGKOK: The king of Thailand, His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn, named his consort General Suthida Vajiralongkorn Na Ayudhya as the Queen, reported Thai News Agency, quoting an announcement published in the Royal Gazette.

The announcement said His Majesty the King had married General Suthida Vajiralongkorn Na Ayudhya in accordance with the law and the royal traditions.

Therefore, he bestows on her the title Queen Suthida.

According to the TV pool news on Wednesday evening, the royal marriage registration took place at the Ampornsathan Throne Hall in the Dusit Palace at the auspicious time of 4.32pm.

After the royal announcement was read, His Majesty poured sacred water on her head and granted her the highest royal decorations of his reign.

The royal couple signed the marriage documents and Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn and Privy Council president Prem Tinsulanonda subsequently signed as witnesses of the marriage. – Bernama
