KUALA LUMPUR: Penang failed to capitalise on home ground advantage and were held to a 1-1 draw by Kuala Lumpur (KL) City FC in a Super League match played at the City Stadium last night.

The City Boys began the game on the offensive and shot into a seventh-minute lead when their Ivory Coast import, Tchetche Kipre finished off a pass from Paulo Josue.

However, Penang managed to draw level through Brazilia Giovane Gomes in the first minute of injury time in the first half.

Then, in the 79th minute, KL City found themselves a man down when Australian Giancarlo Gallifuoco was shown the red card for fouling Gomes in the box.

There was more drama at the tail end of the match when referee Mohammad Zamzaidi Katimin sent off Penang’s Mohammad Rahmat Makasuf for a second bookable offence late into injury time (90+8).

Meanwhile, PDRM FC continued to be the dark horses of the Super League this season when they stunned fifth-placed Sabah FC 1-0, courtesy of a winger Nabil Ahmad Latpi’s 26th-minute goal, at the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) Stadium.
