Kuching Jetty Cluster ends

KUCHING: The Kuching Jetty Cluster ended on Sunday (Aug 16) after no new cases were reported for 28 days.

With this, the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement said that there were seven remaining active clusters in the state — the Engineering Company Cluster with eight cases; Mambong Cluster (7); Stutong Market Cluster (7); Sentosa Cluster (31); Melbourne PUI Cluster (3); Kuching Construction Company Cluster (2); and Satok Market Cluster (4).

The Kuching Jetty Cluster was first detected on July 19 involving two foreign employees from a fishing vessel jetty in Pending. Two positive cases were detected in the cluster and they have recovered and have been discharged from the hospital.

SDMC also revealed that Sarawak recorded no new positive Covid-19 cases on Sunday (Aug 16), with the total number of positive cases in the state remaining at 682.

With no new recovery cases, the total number of Covid-19 cases which had recovered and had been discharged remained at 659, or 96.63 percent.

“At present, four cases are undergoing treatment at isolation wards in hospitals. The total Covid-19 deaths in Sarawak remain at 19 or 2.79 percent,” said SDMC.

Apart from that, 21 new person under investigation (PUI) cases were reported while two cases were awaiting lab results.
