KUCHING: A landslide has caused great damage to Jalan Puncak Borneo at KM40 near Kampung Karu in Padawan that resulted in excess debris which has disrupted the access to the house of two families.

When met at their house yesterday, the representatives of the families, Resop and Tedi Sengus, related their problem to Sanjan Daik, Special Assistant to MP Stampin Chong Chieng Jen.

Sanjan said the access road that was damaged by the landslide five years ago has only been repaired recently, however, the contractor who carried out the repair works refused to clear the debris that has buried the road access to the two houses.

“I told the contractor to remove the thick debris but the contractor refused to do so, saying that the allocation of funds was only meant for repairing the road affected by the landslide,” said Resop and Tedi.

Feeling unhappy with the answer given by the contractor, Resop brought the matter to the attention of the local YB, Datuk Dr Jerip Susil but till today, no action has been taken.”

They said it should be the duty of the contractor to remove the debris and to repair the access road.
Sanjan urged relevant authorities to look into the matter as the two families have suffered enough all these years.
