Awang Tengah addresses ground-breaking ceremony of LePapa Hypermarket and Roxy Hotel project here.

LAWAS: Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan has announced that the Lawas Development Masterplan will undergo adjustments to align with the ongoing and planned development initiatives led by the Sarawak government in the district.

Speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony of the LePapa Hypermarket and Roxy Hotel project yesterday, Awang Tengah said that the government was committed to infrastructure development for improved connectivity, utilities, and telecommunications.

According to him, the approval of the Lawas Airport project was also acknowledged as a crucial step towards accelerating the local economy.

Drawing inspiration from China’s success, he drew parallels between their achievements and Sarawak’s approach, through a similar focus on infrastructure development and other policies. He further affirmed Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg’s commitment to promoting development in Limbang and Lawas.

“In addition, with all ongoing and planned infrastructure facilities, it will make it easier for the private sectors to come in and invest,” said Bukit Sari assemblyman.

The Bukit Sari assemblyman assured that the state government would continue introducing and implementing friendly policies to encourage private sector engagement.

“Anywhere in this world, to accelerate economic growth is through the involvement of the private sector. So we work together, and the private sector will be the one who creates job employment, and thus creates numerous spin-off benefits.”
