KUCHING: Tamin assemblyman Christopher Gira Sambang has handed over Minor Rural Project (MRP) grants amounting to RM30,000 to three longhouse Village Development and Security Committees (JKKK) in Lawas.

In a brief meeting at his office on Wednesday (June 7), Gira presented the grants to the representatives of the longhouses, Penghulu Ajan Renang.

The grants amounted to RM10,000 each for JKKK Rh Ajan, JKKK Kampung Iban Siang Siang, and JKKK Kampung Lumut Laut, as stated in Gira’s Facebook post on Friday (June 9).

He recalled his visit to the longhouses last December, accompanied by Datuk Henry Sum Agong and other delegates. During the visit, the residents of the longhouses expressed their need for funding to support their activities.

“I express my gratitude to the Iban community for their warm welcome during the visit. I pray that they will continue to succeed in all their endeavours, especially for the younger generation,” said Gira.
