Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil

KUCHING: Marudi assemblyman Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil said he was leaving it to the people to decide who they wanted to serve them.

He said this in view of the launching of Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) Marudi branch office in Beluru today (March 8).

“I congratulate them for setting up a branch in Beluru as this will offer the people in Marudi an option of whom they want as their representative,” he told New Sarawak Tribune yesterday.

With PSB spreading its wing in Beluru, Penguang, who is a Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) elected representative, said it was for the voters to choose their representatives.

“However, I am dully worried as this will split the rural communities in general and the Iban in particular,” he said.

With that being said, Penguang, who is also Assistant Minister for Local Government and Housing, said he had been actively going on the ground, getting ready for the forthcoming 12th state election which is due next year.

“I have always been prepared… Our machineries are already in place,” he said.

Meanwhile, it was reported that PSB president Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh would officiate at the new branch office in Beluru at 10am today.

Former assistant minister of water supply and Marudi assemblyman Datuk Sylvester Entri Muran said about 2,000 people were expected to witness the opening ceremony of PSB Marudi branch office.

Entri was dropped as BN candidate in the state election in 2016. In March last year, he left PDP to join PSB.

PSB, formerly known as United People’s Party (UPP), formed in 2014, is a splinter group from Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP).
