KUCHING: Local councils are at the frontlines in this anti-rabies war, said chairman of the Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) Datuk Peter Minos.

“We must fully support the government in getting rid of rabies in whatever way we possibly can.

“The latest rabies victim was from the Sibu area and it is very good that the Sibu Municipal Council is reacting fast.

“We in the other councils are taking the cue and doing our part with good advice from our ministry,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Minos described rabies as elusive and deadly, adding that thus far there had been 23 total deaths due to rabies since 2017.

MPKS, he added, was glad to be working alongside the Ministry of Local Government and Housing (MLGH)  and Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) in continuing the campaign and fight against rabies.

Minos officiated at the official launch of the anti-rabies campaign at MPKS yesterday.
