LUBOK ANTU: A longhouse chief (tuai rumah) from Bengap, Batang Ai succumbed to injuries when motorcycle he was riding rammed the back of a cement mixer truck at Kilometre 21 Jalan Lubok Antu-Sri Aman around 3pm yesterday.

Sources said the victim had attended a luncheon at the Lubok Antu Complex Multipurpose Hall here before the fatal accident.

After finishing lunch, the victim then rode a motorcycle alone to return to his longhouse in Bengap, Batang Ai, the source said.

As he approached the bumpy hill at Kilometre 21, the motorcycle he was riding rammed the back of a cement mixer truck in the same direction as the tuai rumah was going.

“The accident was believed to have caused the victim to die instantly at the scene,” the source added.

The body of the victim was then taken to the Sri Aman Divisional Hospital for further action.

Lubok Antu Member of Parliament, Datuk William Nyalau Badak, rushed to the scene of the accident to check the remains of the victim before being taken to the hospital.
