BINTULU: Some 40 longhouse chiefs from Kakus constituency have expressed their support for incumbent Datuk John Sikie Tayai to be renominated for the 12th state election to be held on Dec 18, said Tuai Rumah Chuat Glong.

According to him, Sikie is the best candidate for the seat with his proven track record.

“We have unanimously support Sikie to be renominated as Kakus representative in this coming state election to defend the seat (Kakus).

“He has worked hard, always goes to the ground helping the people in the area and also a leader that always listens to the problems conveyed by the people.

“We do not want other candidate to replace Sikie,” he said on Saturday during a programe hosted by the Longhouse Chiefs Association (PTR) for Kakus constituency at Rumah Luni Jugah in Bukit Dinding, Selangau.

Chuat added since Sikie served the constituency, various developments projects have been carried out in the area in the last ten years.

This includes basic amenities such as clean water supply, electricity, roads and driveways to the junction and front yard of the longhouses.

Within a year alone, the Bawan polling district administration (PDM) received the Rural Transformation project (RTP) and Minor Rural project (MRP) worth RM 1.5 million each.

The longhouse chiefs also called on the constituents in Kakus to vote for Sikie in this coming Sarawak election, adding that the mistake that they made during the 14th General Election had caused them to lose the Selangau parliamentary seat.
