SIBU: Senator Robert Lau, who is also chairman of Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Bawang Assan branch, led a group of politicians to hand over Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) flags to the longhouse folk in Pasai.

Present were the longhouse chiefs and representatives of 15 longhouses in Pasai.

Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) and Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS0 representatives were present to witness the event.

Lau told reporters on Sunday that the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government would continue to safeguard the interests of Sarawak and hasten the development of the rural areas.

“The present government has spent a large sum of money to speed up the building of roads, bridges and bring electricity supply and water to all rural communities.

“This is made possible by the additional funds that the state is collecting from the sales tax from oil and gas exports from Sarawak.

“The main contributor is Petronas, which has agreed to pay the sales tax.”
