KUCHING: Five members of a family considered themselves to be very fortunate when they sustained only minor injuries after their car plunged into a ravine yesterday morning.

A 38-year-old mother was driving her four sons aged between one and 13 when she lost control of the car while driving along Mile 29, Kuching-Serian Road at 10.05am.

Firemen from the Serian Fire and Rescue Department were called to the scene to cut off the battery power to prevent the car from bursting into flames while the five victims were rescued by passers-by.
