The public is invited to attend en masse to enliven the atmosphere of the Makersmeet X Borneo Makers Festival programme which will take place at the premises of Pusaka Negeri Sarawak (PNS) Sibu from Oct 21 – 22.

The two-day programme organised by PNS Sibu in collaboration with the Sarawak Children’s Ideas Economic Fund (SCIEF) will be on from 9 am till 5 pm. According to a PNS Sibu’s press statement, the programme is a special platform for local designers and creators from various fields and backgrounds to meet and share knowledge.

It aims to provide a platform for Maker activists to share their interests and skills with the public and encourage people to stay active in the development of ideas in doing something innovative and beneficial. Moreover, it is also to expose the public about Maker activities that need to be nurtured to produce a creative and innovative generation.

The programme includes hands-on activities, DIY projects and events that encourage creation and innovation. Various interesting activities will be held during the entire programme such as Makers Spot — Carpentry, culinary, gardening/green technology, innovation, robotics & electronics; STEM Spot — Science & engineering experiment; Creation Station — Arts & Crafts, textiles, upcycling (SDG); Talent Spot — Performance/Competition; and Trade & Learn Zone – Exhibition Also to be held are sales from stalls selling various types of food and drinks by local food vendors. In conjunction with the programme, PNS Sibu will hold a 3R Fashion Show Competition on Oct 21, from 10 am to 1 pm at the car park.

This competition gives the people the opportunity to showcase their clothes made from second-hand or recycled materials. This participation is open to children aged 4-12 years and is limited to 45 participants.

Prizes and participation e-certificates are also provided for winners and participants. Registration is free.
