KUCHING: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) arrested a local man for allegedly possessing 13,000 litres of subsidised diesel without a permit this morning (Jan 18).

KPDN Sarawak director Matthew Dominic Barin said a raid was conducted on an unnumbered storehouse near Lorong Sabor, here around 5.30am.

The team managed to arrest a 43-year-old man believed to be the storekeeper after he failed to produce valid documents from the supply controller to handle the scheduled controlled goods.

“Inspections also led to the seizure of 13,000 litres of diesel inside intermediate bulk containers (IBCs) along with some equipment, all of which are valued to be around RM30,000.

“The case is being investigated under Section 20 (1) of the Control of Supplies Act 1961 for storing controlled goods in an unlicensed place,” he added.

Matthew said the raid was conducted following a two-week intelligence monitoring on the premises, which was suspected to be used to store controlled goods without a permit.
