MUKAH: A local man sustained minor injuries after attempting to enter his parents’ house to put out a fire at Jalan Bougenvilla, Kampung Kuala Lama Resettlement Scheme here.
A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department said the incident happened around 9.55 pm last night (May 7).
Firemen from Mukah station were promptly deployed to the scene.
Initially, the 37-year-old victim noticed smoke coming from the house and attempted to enter the house but instead, sustained injuries to his hands and legs.
Fortunately, his parents were at not home at the time of the incident.
The injured man was givenfirst aid at the scene and was later taken to the hospital for further treatment.
Extinguishing works were then carried out using water sourced from a nearby fire hydrant.
However, the fire had completely destroyed the house and it also slightly damaged the walls and ceiling of another house that belonged to the victim.
The cause of the fire and losses incurred are still under investigation.
