Man killed after car crashes into tree

KUCHING: A man died on the spot after his car veered off the road and crashed into a palm tree along the road divider at Tabuan Laru, Jalan Setia Raja yesterday.

Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) assistant director of operations Henderi Ardimansyah when contacted, said they received an emergency call pertaining to the accident at around 9.15 am.

Firemen from Tabuan Jaya station were promptly despatched to the scene to conduct rescue works.

“On arrival, they found that the driver was still inside the car and proceeded to bring him out of the vehicle.

“The victim identified as Chiang Tze Soon, 22, was handed over to the paramedics, who later confirmed that he had died at the scene,” he said.

His body was then taken to the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for post-mortem examinations.

The team also performed flushing works to clear the road from oil spill before concluding the operation.
