Man nabbed for allegedly stabbing wife

MIRI: A man suspected of stabbing his wife in the neck on Saturday was arrested by police early yesterday.

In the incident that occurred at around 7.00am at a house in Permyjaya here, the victim, aged 26, sought help from her relatives who were staying nearby to send her to Miri Hospital to receive treatment.

Miri District Deputy Police chief, Superintendent Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the suspect, aged 32, was arrested at Padang Kerbau at 1.00am yesterday.

“Initial investigation revealed that at the time of the incident the victim was about leave for her workplace in Permyjaya when her husband stabbed her using a knife.

“The suspect’s motive is not known yet and it is still under investigation. The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code,” he said when met at Miri Central Police Station yesterday.

He added that the victim was reported to be in stable condition.
